My husband and I woke up with a long day ahead of us and instead of spending it church-lunch-grocery-home routine, we decided its time for some fresh air with the sound of waves in the background...

We decided to go to a beach in Mactan... in just an hour we were already at Portofino Beach Resort with a pizza and some chips at hand. The place was cool considering it was quite cheap with 100-peso entrance fee and 180 pesos for the table and chairs we rented. The sun was blazing hot as we ate our cold pizza but the color of the sea was an appetizer no restaurant in the city can offer.

Portofino was filled with people of all kinds, beside us was a big group of family just eating and laughing with their lechon and puso for lunch and on the other side was a group of friends eating chips and talking about cervical cancer. I kept eavesdropping on their conversation because they kept talking about how uncomfortable and embarassing it was to be examined by a male gynecology doctor, how painful an speculum exam is and I was thinking that I do that everyday with my patients and I never give a thought of how an impact it would make to them that it entailed a whole afternoon of conversation with friends and beer on the beach.

It was ironic how desperate I am to get my mind off work on a sunday morning and i ended up beside a bunch of people talking about my work, there are some things that you just can't escape. But I was still glad that Rommel and I spent our day there, it was relaxing and refreshing change from our usual Sunday routine and of course, the beach was fabulous! :)
